Français A2

Written production — practise the TCF IRN and DELF A2 writing test

Written production is a paper in its own right: three short tasks in the TCF IRN (30–60 then 40–90 words) and two exercises of at least 60 words in the DELF A2. Here you practise the forms actually asked for — message, letter, advert, review, story — with AI feedback.

Each task is a different type: a message, a letter, a small ad, a review or a story each has its own rules, so the AI grades your text against the rules of its form. Each task's type is shown on the badge, together with the expected length.

Pick a task and write: your text is corrected by an AI.

What the written-production test actually asks for

In the TCF IRN, written production is three tasks in 30 minutes: describe a person, a place or an object in a short message (30–60 words); narrate everyday activities, an experience or an event (40–90 words); give your opinion about a place, an object or a person (40–90 words). The skill gets a mark out of 20, converted into a CEFR level — A2 corresponds to 2–5/20.

The DELF A2 trains the same writing moves but is marked differently: each of the four épreuves is worth 25 points, you need 50/100 overall and at least 5/25 in every épreuve — anything below 5/25 is eliminatory, whatever the total.

The number-one trap is not grammar, it is format. A text outside the word bounds can have the whole TCF written-production skill reported as “A1 non atteint”. Count your words, cover every point of the instructions, and keep a visible structure: who you are writing to, why, what you are asking or telling, how you close.

How this practice works

Each task states the text type and the length. Write, submit, and you immediately get: what the instructions required and what you covered, your errors corrected and explained, more idiomatic phrasings, and a model answer in the right format.

Practice is free and needs no account. The evaluation comes from an artificial-intelligence system: it is neither an official mark nor an official level, and the site computes no pass verdict.

Frequently asked questions — written production

How long is TCF IRN written production?

30 minutes for all three tasks, with no separate preparation time. So practise writing fast and within the word bounds.

How long should each task be?

Task 1 (describe): 30–60 words. Tasks 2 (narrate) and 3 (opinion): 40–90 words each.

What mark do I need?

It depends on the exam. The TCF IRN has no pass mark: it places you on a scale, and the préfecture is what requires a level (A2 for a first multi-year residence permit). For the DELF A2 you need 50/100 overall and at least 5/25 in each épreuve.

What loses the most points?

Not covering every element of the instructions, and falling outside the word bounds. In the TCF a length problem can get the whole skill reported as “A1 non atteint”, before grammar even enters into it.

Is the evaluation an official mark?

No. It is produced by an AI for practice. It has no official value and does not replace an attestation.
